SerComm Philippines, a subsidiary of Sercomm, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of telecoms and broadband equipment, has opened a green facility in Carmelray Industrial Park 1 in Calamba, the Philippines.
The 20,000m² facility, which specialises in wireless telecommunication devices such as 5G and fibre products, is a state-of-the-art, eco-friendly building adhering to the highest energy conservation standards. The company will create 5,000 jobs in the Philippines as a result of the project.
Sercomm was founded in 1992 in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei, and is now active in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, including China. Its production sites are located in Taiwan, China and the Philippines.
Calamba is located south of Manila on the E2 highway in the province of Laguna. It has a population of more than half-a-million people. The city’s economy had traditionally been based around manufacturing and financial services, but in recent years it has benefitted from the outsourcing trend. This has led to it being classified as a ‘Next Wave City’ in the Philippines, and has seen the location attract investment from companies such as Accenture and SPi Technologies.
