Irish pharmaceutical storage provider Q1 Scientific has announced plans to open a new storage facility in Durham, North Carolina, US.
The “new state-of-the-art facility” will initially offer seven ICH stability chambers covering a range of conditions.
It will be situated at Durham’s Research Triangle Park (RTP), next to an analytical facility of its parent company Cambrex, with the location chosen to allow for deliveries within 48 hours across the US.
The facility is scheduled to open before the end of 2024. Subsequent to that, Q1 has already earmarked a phase 2 expansion plan to be executed within 24 months after the opening. This will be aimed at increasing the facility’s storage capacity to 20 chambers.
Tom Loewald, CEO at Cambrex, said: “We are thrilled to expand Q1 Scientific’s reach into Durham, North Carolina, enhancing our ability to serve pharmaceutical companies across North America. This investment not only broadens our footprint but also leverages Q1 Scientific’s extensive expertise in the stability storage business.”
Q1’s expansion into Durham is its third such facility globally. It complements existing facilities in Waterford, Ireland, and Liege, Belgium.
