By GlobalDataAccording to Vantage’s press release, the center has a substation providing “unrivalled expansion flexibility and speed.”
The state-owned business Cyberview, which is in charge of creating the Cyberjaya tech hub, first revealed the plans in May of last year along with Vantage’s $3 billion investment in the city.
Raymond Tong, president of Vantage’s APAC business, said “Our KUL2 development strengthens our market-leading position in Malaysia while contributing to the nation’s digital economy.”
Kamarul Affirin Abdul Samad, Cyberview’s CEO, added “This development not only reinforces the city’s strategic importance but also reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement for Malaysia.”
DigitalBridge, an asset manager owned by Vantage, entered the APAC market in 2021. They’d previously acquired a data center business from PCCW, and merged with AgileDC into Vantage. The KUL1 site was taken over by Vantage as part of the PCCW acquisition.
At full build-out, the KUL1 campus will offer 31MW and 63,000sqm across four buildings. The four-story KUL12, the second building on the campus, was completed last year, with work on the third building, KUL13, beginning at the same time.
Additionally, Vantage has confirmed that construction is currently underway on the campus’s fourth and final building, which when finished will provide 16MW. Across five markets in Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Malaysia, Vantage’s APAC portfolio comprises 452MW of operational and planned IT capacity. In Taiwan, the business opened its Taipei data center one month ago.
