German-based logistics provider DHL Express has unveiled its new logistics gateway facility in Muscat, Oman. Over the past twenty years, the company has invested around €30mn ($30.81mn) in developing the facility, which spans 12,621 sqm. The new site will serve over 4,200 customers in the region and has the capacity to process around 2,400 shipments per hour.

Initially announced in May 2024, DHL Express’s new site at the Muscat International Airport will also operate as its regional headquarters. The location houses a service centre, facilitates import and export shipments, provides customs clearance services, and includes a country office.

Abdulaziz Busbate, CEO of DHL Express MENA said, “This facility is the latest addition to DHL’s growing infrastructure and a strategic investment in the future of logistics in the Sultanate of Oman.”

Nour Suliman, president of DHL Express MENA stated that the company’s new site demonstrated “DHL’s unwavering confidence in Oman’s economic potential.”

The new facility offers numerous advantages by significantly streamlining logistics and distribution. These include faster processing through an advanced import/export gateway with X-ray screening, an intelligent conveyor system processing up to 3,000 shipments per hour, simplified customs procedures with on-site clearance, secure bonded storage, efficient direct vehicle loading, and customized solutions from a dedicated fulfilment centre.

DHL Express, part of German-based Deutsche Post AG, has around 600,000 employees globally. In 2024, it announced new sites in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Christchurch (New Zealand), Tallinn (Estonia), and Kentucky (US) amongst others.
