UK-based rail solutions company Siemens Mobility Ltd has unveiled its new rail components distribution centre in Goole, East Yorkshire, UK. Siemens Mobility is a subsidiary of German multinational Siemens AG.

The new site adds to Siemens’ existing operations in the Goole Rail Village, a network of supplementary rail projects in the town.

Complementing the existing Kettering site in Northamptonshire, this new facility will store and distribute rail components. Additionally, it will also play a key role in integrating the rail village into the broader UK rolling stock supply chain.

Siemens Mobility’s UK rail logistic operation, spanning Kettering and Goole, is backed by a 30-person team overseeing materials management, planning and supply chain management. Furthermore, the company’s localised distribution strategy in the UK minimises road miles, reducing its logistics carbon footprint.

Sambit Banerjee, joint CEO at Siemens Mobility, expressed his excitement about the new facility and emphasised its importance in the company’s mission to transform rail travel and transport in the UK.

“This new centre, alongside its sister facility in Kettering, will enable us to further enhance the delivery of materials to our fleets,” he added.

Anne Handley, Leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Councillor for Goole North, commented, “This new facility is the latest in a long line of investment by Siemens Mobility into Goole and the East Riding of Yorkshire more widely, supporting local talent and investing in local communities.”

The new distribution centre is part of Siemens Mobility’s broader investment of up to $310m (£240m) in the Goole Rail Village. The overall investment will bring up to 1,000 new jobs to the region. It also includes a new bogie assembly and service centre.
