Belgium-based lightweight construction materials manufacturer Etex NV has opened its $217.5m expanded plasterboard production facility in Bristol, UK.
The site, which produces plasterboard for the Siniat brand, was first announced in 2019 and commissioned in 2022. The site also allows Etex to produce upwards of 98% of its board portfolio for the UK and Irish markets.
This expanded site utilises advanced technology for efficient, sustainable operations and minimises its carbon footprint. Additionally, it aligns with the company’s 2030 sustainability goals, including rainwater harvesting and increased recycled content.
Bernard Delvaux, CEO of Etex, emphasized Etex’s position as a pioneer in the construction sector globally and the UK.
John Sinfield, UK and Ireland country manager said, “The new Bristol plant expansion is proof of Etex’s strong footprint in Europe and its commitment to continually investing in innovation.”
“This investment will give our UK customers additional confidence that we are ready for market recovery and able to respond to any increases in demand, in line with wider governmental drives,” he added.
Headquartered in Belgium’s Flemish Brabant, Etex operates around 160 sites across 45 countries and employs 13,500 people worldwide. In 2023, it announced a new $31m plasterboard factory in Romania.
