China-based Geek+, a global leader in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), has established a new headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. The office opens with a team of commercial, project and service engineers. It will serve the company’s local customers as well as strengthening its wider Asia-Pacific service capabilities.
In a press release, managing director for Asia-Pacific, UK and the Americas Lit Fung commented: “We believe there is a huge demand for AMRs in South Korea, which is why we have set up a full team there to support the logistics upgrades facilitated by robotics and AI in the retail, e-commerce and apparel sectors.”
In January 2022, Geek+ collaborated with third-party logistics provider CJ Logistics to deploy 128 AMRs at its distribution centre in Gunpo, South Korea. The site can now handle 30,000 orders per day. Geek+ plans to continue to work with CJ Logistics to help local businesses improve their efficiency and reduce warehouse management costs.
Geek+ has more than 1,500 employees and operates offices in China, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, the UK and the US.
