UK-based accounting giant PwC has opened in a new office in Bhubaneswar, Odisha state, in India. It will create 500 new jobs as part of a wider commitment that will see PwC create 10,000 additional jobs in India by 2027 as part of a wider growth strategy.
Sanjeev Krishan, chairman of PwC in India, commented: “‘Our talent pool is no longer centred in metro cities, and we are looking to leverage the wealth of skilled professionals in other cities too. Odisha’s rich education system produces a large number of engineers and law and management graduates every year. In addition, the state is a preferred investment destination and home to some of India’s leading organisations, be it conglomerates, technology majors or home-grown companies. Many of them are our clients who can now be locally serviced as well.”
PwC India is headquartered in Calcutta, West Bengal, and has 28 locations across the country. The company recently expanded its operations in Jaipur and has announced it will open additional offices in Noida and Thane in 2023.
