Glenn Barklie is chief economist at Investment Monitor and head of FDI services at Global Data Media. He was previously with Financial Times, where he was the head of benchmarking services for fDi Intelligence. With almost 15 years’ experience in FDI and economic development, he has worked with many government agencies and corporates, specialising in location benchmarking, rankings and investment trends as well as managing FDI databases.
Viola Caon is a senior editor at Investment Monitor, focusing on infrastructure, logistics and the Americas market. She joined from Euromoney’s IJGlobal, where she covered private investment in energy and infrastructure for the past four years after covering the asset management sector more broadly. Viola has extensive knowledge of the institutional investment world and has focused on fund investments both in infrastructure and across other asset classes at a global level since the beginning of her career in 2012.
Naomi Davies is an FDI consultant at Investment Monitor, with expertise in location benchmarking and cross-border investment. She joined the team after more than five years at fDi Intelligence, a specialist division of the Financial Times. Naomi is the former head of research for fDi Rankings, a series of reports held within fDi Magazine regarding the competitiveness of global locations. Prior to this, she worked as a senior investment analyst and researcher for fDi Markets, the division’s greenfield cross-border investment monitor.
Courtney Fingar is editor-in-chief of Investment Monitor and a widely known commentator on international investment trends. She oversaw the launch of the publication in September 2020 after joining from the Financial Times. Her 20-year career in business journalism includes running the FT’s fDi Magazine and serving as head of content for its associated data division fDi Intelligence. She has covered business stories in more than 80 countries and she is a popular moderator and keynote speaker at economic and investment events worldwide and has appeared on television and radio in dozens of countries.
Richard Gardham is the managing editor of Investment Monitor, overseeing editorial output for the site. He joined from the Financial Times where he was production manager across a number of titles, including The Banker and fDi Magazine. Richard has worked in magazine production for 25 years, with a career spanning numerous national newspapers and business-to-business publications.
Sofia Karadima is a senior editor and researcher at Investment Monitor, focusing on financial and business services, and ESG investing. She previously covered institutional investment across private markets for financial news and research provider Acuris. She has reported on private equity, venture capital, private debt and infrastructure, among other topics. Sofia is currently based in London, after living in Chile, Denmark, Spain and Greece.
Marina Leiva is a senior reporter at Investment Monitor, where she specialises in the agribusiness sector. Previously, she reported on institutional investments in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal for MandateWire at the Financial Times. She started her career in Spain, covering international affairs for Eldiario.es
Cara Lyttle is a senior investment consultant at Investment Monitor with experience tracking and analysing cross-border investment. She joined from the Financial Times where she was production manager of fDi Markets for the fDi Intelligence division. During her seven years at the Financial Times she also worked as a senior investment analyst and researcher focusing on western Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Jason Mitchell is a senior editor at Investment Monitor, with a specialisation in emerging markets. He covered foreign investment in Latin America for 13 years and for the past three years has lived in sub-Saharan Africa and written widely about the subject from that continent's perspective. Previously, in London, he was editor of Investment Adviser and news editor of Financial Adviser, both of which belong to the Financial Times Group.
Cathy Mullan is head of data sourcing at Global Data Media. She joined the Investment Monitor team following almost nine years as part of fDi Intelligence, a specialist division of the Financial Times. Cathy worked as head of rankings at fDi Intelligence, producing location rankings with a focus on foreign investment. Later, she worked as product manager for the division's location comparison tool, fDi Benchmark.
Christine Patton is senior economist at Investment Monitor and a global expert on cross-border investment. She joined from the Financial Times where she was head of fDi Markets for the fDi Intelligence division. During her 11 years at the Financial Times, Christine managed the greenfield investment monitor fDi Markets, and was also involved with report writing, and economic and product development.
Sebastian Shehadi is political editor and senior editor at Investment Monitor and a contributing writer for the New Statesman. He joined from the Financial Times, where he was an editor at fDi Magazine. He takes special interest in tourism, tier-two cities, green energy, real estate and emerging markets, and has written for the FT, the BBC, Sifted and Middle East Eye. Prior to his career in journalism, Sebastian served as a political risk analyst at Citibank.
Ruth Strachan is a senior reporter at Investment Monitor, focusing on manufacturing, mining and commodities. She joined from the Financial Times, where she worked as a content editor in the events division FT Live. In this role she wrote content for various global events across a number of topics including FDI, technology, C-suite roles and compliance. Before this, she was a journalist at DC Thomson.
Ben van der Merwe is a data journalist at Global Data Media, specialising in FDI. He joined from the Reach Data Unit, where he was a fellow of the Google News Initiative. His investigative journalism has previously appeared in theObserver, VICE,Private Eye and New Statesman.
Jon Whiteaker is a senior editor at Investment Monitor focusing on FDI in the energy sector. He is also Middle East and Africa editor. He joined from Euromoney Institutional Investor. He has been a business and finance journalist for more than a decade, five of which he spent as the editor of IJGlobal – a leading news and data title covering energy and infrastructure finance. Jon has reported on transactions and investment trends across all continents and is an experienced leader and participant in industry events.
Lara Williams is a senior reporter at Investment Monitor specialising in FDI in the tech and bio-pharma sectors. An experienced writer, Lara previously worked as deputy editor of the Financial Times’s fDi Magazine. Lara has a background in technology journalism writing for the UK’s Computing magazine and has spent much of the past decade living in Silicon Valley.
