Brazil is the ninth largest economy in the world with a GDP of $1.8 trillion. Brazil’s GDP has grown by -17% between 2010 and 2021 and is expected to grow by 47% by 2025.

As of 2021 there are 8.8 million students in tertiary education in Brazil, with 22.3 million students in secondary and 15.3 million in primary education. Brazil spent 8.8% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Brazil ranked 124th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 109th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Brazil finished 71st, after ranking 72nd in 2018.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $73.9 billion and private healthcare expenditure equalled $105.2 billion in 2018.

The largest urban areas in Brazil are Sao Paulo (22 million people), Rio de Janeiro (12.7 million) and Belo Horizonte (5.4 million).
