There are 23.9 million people employed in Colombia, with an unemployment rate of 13.4% – 2.5 million people.

Colombia is the 36th largest economy in the world with a GDP of $331.3bn. Colombia’s GDP has grown by 20% between 2010 and 2021 and is expected to grow by 106% by 2025.

As of 2021 there are 2.5 million students in tertiary education in Colombia, with 4.7 million students in secondary and 4.5 million in primary education. Colombia spent 4.6% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Colombia ranked 67th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 65th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Colombia finished 57th, after ranking 57th in 2018.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $12.2bn and private healthcare expenditure equalled $7.5bn in 2018.

The largest urban areas in Colombia are Bogota (10.1 million people), Medellin (4 million) and Cali (3.2 million).
