US-based IT consultancy Cognizant has announced plans to develop a new facility in Hyderabad, India.
Spanning across a million square feet (92903 sqm), the new facility is estimated to create over 15,000 jobs. It will focus on advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions.
The announcement was made after a successful meeting between Telangana’s chief and IT ministers and a delegation from the company led by the CEO.
Ravi Kumar S, Cognizant’s CEO, highlighted his appreciation for Hyderabad. He said it is a city with “strengths as a technology and innovation hub” and an important asset in delivering “cutting-edge solutions in IT services and consulting.”
Revanth Reddy, Telangana’s chief minister, mirrored the sentiment. He remarked that “the expansion of Cognizant’s operations in Hyderabad is a testament to confidence in the city’s growing reputation as a global destination for technology companies.”
Reddy also highlighted the “positive impact this expansion will have on [Hyderabad’s] economy.”
