Ditsch USA, a division of German-based pretzel group Ditsch, has opened a new production facility in Springdale, Ohio, US. It aims to meet the growing demand for pretzel-baked goods.

The new facility represents an investment of $70m and is expected to create 150 new jobs over the next few years. The jobs include line supervisors, maintenance technicians and production associates.

Ditsch first announced its expansion plans in September 2023 to purchase and convert the old Costco site. The revamped facility now features fully automated bakery production lines and increased storage capacity. The site also includes additional office, manufacturing, and loading space. Furthermore, it will double the company’s production capacity by 2027.

Thorsten Schroeder, CEO of Ditsch USA, emphasized the company’s commitment towards Springdale. He said, “Between the two Ditsch USA factories located in Springdale, we employ over 180 people, with 80 new jobs having been added in the last 3 years alone.”

Springdale Mayor Lawrence Hawkins III welcomed the new investment. He said, “The City of Springdale is excited to see the expansion of the business and the creation of more jobs.”
