US-based Microsoft, a multinational corporation and technology company, has opened a new artificial intelligence (AI) innovation centre in Lisbon, Portugal, following a partnership deal with Accenture, Avanade, and Unicorn Factory Lisbon.
The centre is located in the AI hub of Unicorn Factory Lisbon, in the city’s Alvalade neighbourhood. It has an open space area, brainstorming spaces and is equipped to hold conferences. According to Microsoft, the objective with this new location is to “accelerate the adoption of AI by public and private companies across all sectors” and therefore contribute to Portugal’s “sustainable growth through new digital innovation scenarios.”

The AI Innovation Factory is 170sqm and has three phases for immersive work. These include an envision workshop, strategy discussions and architecture design sessions. They will allow industry leaders to ideate, plan and execute AI solutions for their businesses.
Andrés Ortolá, general manager of Microsoft Portugal, highlighted that the new centre “can be a true catalyst for transformation, combining talent, ideas and innovation, thus creating space for companies to lead, reinvent themselves and grow in a business context increasingly dominated by digital transformation.”
Manuela Vaz Soares, Accenture’s country managing director for Portugal, said the partnership with Microsoft “symbolizes the beginning of the next chapter in our journey to transform the business landscape in Portugal.”
Gil Azevedo, CEO of Unicorn Factory Libson, emphasised that the partnership with Microsoft “not only reinforces Lisbon as one of the most innovative cities but also highlights the enormous potential of the innovation districts we are creating.” The new hub is part of a larger strategy to create “dedicated spaces in high-growth areas, boosting the economy and the local ecosystem.”
