As of 2018 there were 213,930 students in tertiary education in Mozambique, with 1.2 million students in secondary and 6.6 million in primary education. Mozambique spent 5.8% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Mozambique ranked 138th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 135th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Mozambique finished 137th, after ranking 137th in 2018.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $368m and private healthcare expenditure equalled $360m in 2018.
