Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, a US-based firearms manufacturer, has announced plans for a new facility in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It is a subsidiary of the NIOA group, an Australian armament and munitions company.
Barrett will invest $76.4m in the new site. The new facility, spanning 23,225sqm, will be located at 8808 Manchester Pike. It will bring around 183 new jobs to Rutherford County, effectively doubling its workforce over the next five years.
The Barrett Manufacturing & Technology Campus (BMTC) will provide end-to-end capabilities for Barrett’s product lifecycle, encompassing design, development, manufacturing, testing, support, and distribution. It will be Barrett’s primary global firearms manufacturing hub integrating both production and corporate operations.
The BMTC is scheduled to open in early 2027. Additionally, the NIOA Group intends to locate its US headquarters at the facility upon completion.
Barrett CEO Bryan James expressed his gratitude towards the Department of Tennessee Economic and Community Development for their support.
“This is a significant investment in growing our capabilities. The BMTC will advance our manufacturing and research capabilities,” he added.
Rob Nioa, CEO of NIOA Group, said, “The BMTC will serve as our primary firearms manufacturing site globally. It demonstrates our commitment as a major American manufacturer catering to both the commercial and military markets.”
In October 2024, NIOA Group opened a new regional headquarters in Christchurch, New Zealand.
