FedEx Corp, a US-based express transportation company, has expanded its operations in Central and Eastern Europe by establishing a new logistics facility in Plzeň, Czech Republic.

This facility covers an area of 2,600sqm and includes both warehouse and office space. It will add 23 docking bays for delivery vans and eight docking bays for long-distance vehicles. Additionally, the facility features solar panels and an electric vehicle charging station.

According to the company, this expansion, which is part of a wider regional push, solidifies Plzeň’s status as a crucial European logistics hub.

Mariusz Mik, vice president of ground operations in the Nordics and Eastern Europe, said the new facility “enhances our ability to deliver reliable, innovative solutions to meet our customers’ growing international needs. It is another vital step in our strategy to support economic growth in Central and Eastern Europe and expand our regional presence.”

The Plzeň facility has access to the FedEx European Road Network, connecting it to other FedEx centres in Hanover, Vienna and Nuremberg. Over 1.3m weekly shipments pass through 45 nations in the road network. The facility also has access to the FedEx Air Network through the capital city’s airport.

FedEx is currently running five locations across the Czech Republic as it continues to expand its footprint in the country. Its largest facility, a 10,000sqm hub, opened in 2022. Over the last few years, the company has invested in the establishment and modernization of logistics facilities in six countries in the region.
