Swiss original equipment manufacturer (OEM) Liebherr has announced a new logistics centre in Tupelo, Mississippi, US.
Liebherr’s new site will require an initial investment of around $176m, which could increase to a potential total investment of up to $230m. Upon completion, it will create 180 new jobs. It also has plans to expand further and create over 300 jobs in the long term.
In July 2024, the company announced it had acquired 480,000 sqm of land in the Hive Business Park. Its central location will provide significant logistical benefits, allowing the company to serve customers throughout the Americas efficiently.
The new facility will serve as Liebherr-Logistics GmbH’s continental warehouse. The new logistics centre will incorporate various operations, including warehousing, distribution, pre-assembly, kitting, repackaging, and customs and export services.
Joerg Stroebele, managing director at Liebherr-Logistics GmbH stated that the new site will offer “faster and more efficient services”.
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves highlighted the importance of this investment for Tupelo and its impact on the local economy.
