Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, an India-based unit of the German automotive company that performs research, IT and product development activities, has announced plans to expand its operations in India. The company will recruit more than 1,000 engineers equipped with new-age digital skills in the country over the next year.
The company’s R&D centre in Bengaluru is its largest outside Germany and is well-positioned to take advantage of India’s burgeoning reputation for producing IT talent. Around 9,000 engineers are already employed by Mercedes-Benz in India.
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India inaugurated its Bengaluru facility in February 2013, initially covering 20,000².
