US industrial automation provider Rockwell Automation has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility in the Indian city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The new 98,000sqft (9,100sqm) facility is aimed at helping Rockwell to develop a more agile and sustainable supply chain in the Asia-Pacific region. It will be situated at the Sholinganallur Elcot Special Economic Zone in the same industrial park as its CUBIC manufacturing facility.
The facility is expected to open in the first half of 2025.
Dilip Sawhney, managing director of India, Rockwell Automation said: “We selected this location because we can create synergies with our existing CUBIC facility and increase agility and productivity in the region. We’re excited about building our presence in India, optimising our manufacturing on a global scale and enhancing the future of industrial operations in this growing market.”
TRB Rajaa, Industries Minister of Tamil Nadu state, said: “Tamil Nadu continues to attract significant global investments, showcasing our robust manufacturing capabilities. The new Rockwell facility, located in Oragadam, will enhance the region’s manufacturing ecosystem even more.”
Rockwell’s newly announced facility represents a doubling down on its focus on the Asia-Pacific region. In the past week, it opened a new Customer Experience Centre (CEC) in Singapore.
