Saudi chemical manufacturer, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, known as SABIC, has expanded its presence in Singapore by adding a new $220m manufacturing facility to expand its resin production capacity and workforce in the country. Its existing production facility began operating there in October 2023.
The factory will produce a high-strength resin used in multiple industries such as aerospace, medical, and electric vehicles (EVs).

While the existing facility already produces 8,000 tonnes of resin, the expansion will enable a 50% increase in output. Sabic also produces this type of resin, known as Ultem, in their production plant in Indiana, US.
Although Sabic declined to disclose the number of employees at the new facility, it stated that it intends to increase its current workforce of over 300 in Singapore by adding positions for engineers, scientists, and chemists.
Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, SABIC’s chief executive, said “The new plant aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality thermoplastics from high-tech and manufacturing industries in the Asia-Pacific region. The new facility fits very well with the high-tech manufacturing that is taking place on Singapore’s land, contributing to the country’s economy. It also reinforces Singapore’s central role with extensive trade agreements across the region.”
