French biopharmaceutical company Sartorius Stedim Biotech has announced the opening of its new centre for bioprocessing innovation in Marlborough, Massachusetts, US.
The centre encourages teamwork, joint creation, and education directly with clients and outside partners for innovation, utilising Sartorius’ newest technologies in practical bioprocess operations.
In addition to research and service labs, the 5853sqm facility has spaces for customer training and demonstrations. Process development, optimisation, and validation services will also be provided. More than 120 internal and external bioprocessing experts will be able to work at the new hub, which currently houses a team of 50 scientists and product developers.
President of Sartorius North America Maurice Phelan noted that the Greater Boston area offered “an unparalleled ecosystem that fosters innovation, collaboration, and growth.” He admired the area’s “access to world-renowned academic institutions, cutting-edge research facilities and a skilled workforce.”
On the business side, Phelan also mentioned “the region’s robust network of venture capital firms and industry partnerships” which will “provide ample opportunities for strategic collaborations.”
Sartorius Stedim Biotech will add two multi-modality GMP suites in 2025 that will use their equipment and workflows. The suits will enable clients to continue working with Sartorius from the early phases of clinical production of development projects. This will allow the business to broaden its range of solutions while concentrating on creating innovative production techniques for new medicines.
