Indian social media company ShareChat has opened its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence in Singapore, making it its third office outside of India after having established locations in the US and the UK.
The new centre aims to enable the organisation to connect with a broader network of specialised AI experts in the region, develop a state-of-the-art technology stack, and provide its community with a better experience.
Leveraging Singapore’s AI talent and resources, the company plans to expand to over 30 employees within three years and develop a leading recommendation system to help users discover relevant content.
The new centre also aims to enhance AI models, develop machine learning for personalized content, and optimize ad targeting, ensuring authentic user-generated content.
Ankush Sachdeva, CEO of ShareChat, said, “We are looking forward to collaborating with related government agencies, institutes of higher learning in Singapore, and other corporations for knowledge-sharing and talent development programs. Singapore’s AI Centre of Excellence will facilitate knowledge exchange between our existing AI teams in India, the US, and the UK, who have extensive experience in this ever-evolving industry.”
ShareChat and Moj (a short video app by the social media platform) have a combined reach of over 325mn users and operate in 15 Indian languages. Building solutions around content discovery and recommendation plays a significant role for both platforms.
