Thermo Fisher Scientific, headquartered in Massachusetts, announced that it will open a new bioanalytical laboratory in GoCo Health Innovation City, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. The new building, situated adjacent to AstraZeneca‘s key research location, will improve the company’s laboratory services.
The new 2694sqm facility is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025 and will provide advanced bioanalytical capabilities to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
The new lab will have advanced instrumentation and provide bioanalytical services, including technologies, for small and large molecules, biomarkers, and novel modalities. Services include cell-based assays, chromatography, molecular genomics, immunochemistry, flow cytometry and chromatography.
Leon Wyszkowski, president of analytical services for Thermo Fisher Scientific, said that, “We are thrilled to expand our bioanalytical footprint in Europe. Our presence in Sweden will support our customers with accurate and timely data, empowering them to make informed decisions.”
The new lab will create up to 140 new jobs, ranging from entry-level to managerial roles. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2025 and will provide GLP-compliant bioanalytical services for all phases of drug development.
