Australia-based Tritium, a manufacturer of proprietary hardware and software to create DC fast chargers for electric vehicles, has announced plans to open a new US production facility in Lebanon, Tennessee. The new site will house up to six production lines, with the potential to produce up to 30,000 units per year at peak capacity.
The factory will become operational in the third quarter of 2022 and help the company expand its US footprint. Tritium plans to create more than 500 new jobs at the site by 2027. In addition, the company expects to increase its European manufacturing capacity, through expansion of existing facilities or establishment of new factories, in 2023.
In a press release, chief executive officer Jane Hunter said: “Tritium’s investment in a US-based, cutting-edge facility for manufacturing is part of our strong push toward global growth in support of the e-mobility industry. We are thrilled to work with the US federal government and the state of Tennessee on this initiative. With the help of the hard-working residents of Tennessee, we expect to double or even triple our charger production capacity to further our product distribution throughout the US.”
Tritium is headquartered in Brisbane and currently operates more than 3.6 million high-power charging sessions across 41 countries.
