XPO announces new ASOS facility in Lichfield

ASOS and XPO have announced that a new facility in Lichfield, Staffordshire, is set to open August 2021 in a boost to the region's growing e-commerce sector.

XPO Logistics, a transport and logistics solutions company, has announced a new fulfilment centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire, in partnership with online fashion conglomerate ASOS.

The facility will be located at Fradley Park and is expected to commence operations in August 2021. The 40,000-square-metre distribution centre will create approximately 2,000 new jobs over the next three years.

Alongside the new centre, ASOS is extending its contract with XPO for a flagship fulfilment centre in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The Barnsley site already employs about 4,000 shift workers.

In a press release, Gavin Williams, the managing director for supply chain UKI at XPO, said: “These two new multi-year agreements with ASOS are a testament to the dedication of our team and the cutting-edge expertise we have showcased at the Barnsley facility over the past eight years. We’re eager to apply our know-how to our third ASOS site with the launch of operations in Lichfield.”
