IKO Industries, a Canada-based leader in manufacturing and supplying residential and commercial roofing products, waterproofing and insulation systems, has announced plans to invest $270m to open a 28,000m² manufacturing campus in Clay County in the US state of Florida. The new facility will create 100 jobs and is expected to open in 2026.

IKO was formed in Canada in 1954 and grew quickly in the years after through its Brampton-based operations. It has since expanded globally; in Europe since 1972 and the US since 1979. The company now has some 3,500 employees and more than 25 manufacturing plants in Belgium, Canada, France, the Netherlands, Slovakia, the UK and the US. It ships roofing products to almost 100 countries.

“As a company, we have a strong belief that you can never remain static; you are always in a situation where you are looking to contract or grow your business,” said David Koschitzky, CEO of IKO North America, in a press release. “In the past decade, we’ve made some of the largest investment commitments we’ve ever made as a family business. They are a clear statement of our belief in the growth of our company, and of the strength of our industry. Clay County and the Clay County Economic Development Corporation have been great partners for us as we looked at this project, and we’re very pleased to be building our first-ever Florida facility.”
