As of 2018 there were 1.9 million students in tertiary education in Pakistan, with 13.4 million students in secondary and 22.9 million in primary education. Pakistan spent 3.9% of its GDP on education in 2019.

Pakistan ranked 108th in the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2020). In the 2019 report it finished 136th. In the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report (2019), Pakistan finished 110th, after ranking 110th in 2018.

Public healthcare expenditure totalled $2.3bn and private healthcare expenditure equalled $5.6bn in 2018.

The largest urban areas in Pakistan are Karachi (27.7 million people), Lahore (10.5 million) and Islamabad (2.7 million).
